Aliki

Aliki is a coastal resort in the prefecture of Viotia and one of the most beautiful sites in the Alkyonides Gulf. It belongs to the municipal district of Xironomi (Municipality of Thisvi), just 2 hours away from Athens (approx. 120 km).

History

Aliki, which in ancient times was called Tifa or Sifai, was a Hercules place of worship, in honour of whom a holy place was created. In this place, Argo, the ship on which Jason sailed during the Argonautical expedition, was built during the prehistoric times.
According to Homer, Thespians, who owned Aliki at that time, started Trojan War from here.
In this region, you can also find the Acropolis of ancient Sifai, with its bastions saved up today.
